This album will cost you roughly $45. That’s $15 for this one, and $30 more for when you’re so enthralled that you go buy their first two releases. As a leading act of QN5 music—a movement very much on top of indie hip-hop right now—the CunninLynguists have serious expectations; and, not surprisingly, DJ Kno still had inspiration left in his classic-rock-clogged imagination to meet and greet them. A Piece of Strange is a concept album—so their occasional fun-grubbing anthems aren’t here—but like 2003’s Southernunderground, it’s an emotional Space Mountain with proper contributions on all lyric accounts.
